Golden Ratio Face
- Read the overview if you need more information
- Look at the site and find THREE areas where you can find uses of the Golden Ratio (PHI) 1:1.618
- Where it is used: _Finger Bones____ Explain: Starting from the bone at the tip of the finger, each bone increases in length by 1.618 times.
- Where it is used: _Spiral Shells_____ Explain: The shells of snails and some sea creatures form spirals similar to golden ratio spirals.
- Where it is used: _Human Face____ Explain: It is possible to relate different parts of the human face to each other using the golden ratio.
- On the LIFE/BODY page, look at the various ratios in your body. See if you have an ‘average’ body. Measure the three places the green line is used:
- The width of your shoulders 42cm
- The length of your forearm (Including your hand) 44cm
- The length of your shin bone (mid-knee to ankle) 46cm
- Are all measurements the same? If they are not, what would be a possible explanation? Write a Paragraph
- The measurements are not all equal, but they are within 4cm of each other. A possible explanation is that my body is still growing. It could also mean that my proportions are not exactly the same as the average. This could be the case due to genetics, or the muscles I use.
- Now check how proportional your face is.
There are a few things that look off about how my face fits into the mask. My eyes are higher and further apart, my nose is a bit high, and my eyebrows do not fit into any of the partitions.
My face also seems to not be symmetric. What I think causes the difference is which side of my jaw that I use most for chewing. It is also obvious that I did not perfectly rotate the image, as one nose is bigger than the other.
"Some have asked why golden ratios would appear in the human faces. It’s a good question. An equally appropriate question is to ask is why it would not," this is irrefutable proof that the golden ratio is important to beauty.
